"And you say, ‘Oh, no
Step on the brakes
Do whatever it takes
But stop this train
Slow, slow! The light's turing red’
But I say: No! No!
Whatever I do
I barrel on through
And I don't complain
No matter what I try
I'm flying full speed ahead"

Character Name: Zell Dincht
Series: Final Fantasy VIII
Age: 19
Physical Description:
Zell is kind of a short man, standing only at 5’5”, though he’ll swear he’s 5’6” if you ask him. But despite his lack of height, Zell is extremely strong- and looks it. After spending the past few years mining almost relentlessly, it’s no surprise that he’s so in shape... or that his appearance can come across as rather sloppy at times. His keeps his blond hair spiked up almost so that it appears to defy gravity, and sports a funky-looking black tattoo on his left cheek that the other miners convinced him to get. His wide eyes are an expressive cornflower blue- almost unfittingly so- making every emotion that appears on his face easily read. Seemingly endless amounts of energy make this man seem even younger than his youthful face does, and notably exceptional posture wraps up the odd combination. Zell’s moves tend to be restless, quick, and larger than they need to be, giving him an almost spastic aura at times.
Personality:
Zell is an extremely good person innately, with a strong sense of right of wrong. This is a direct result of his somewhat sheltered upbringing, and also tends to make him come across (accurately) as gullible and naïve. Zell is friendly and outgoing, and quick to like people and form attachments with them. To a fault. The fact that he’s quick to trust hasn’t yet had a chance to screw Zell over, but this blond would be a prime candidate for such a thing to happen like that. Combined with his less-than-lightning-speed mind, it can be a dangerous combination.
That being said, Zell is (despite popular belief) not stupid. It takes things a little while to register sometimes which definitely does make his appear stupid to many people, but when Zell has really mulled something over he can often come up with great ideas or bright solutions to problems. Unfortunately, Zell hasn't sat around long enough to figure this out, and is quite impulsive. Most of his decisions are reactions that haven't been thought through at all, and he can be very quick to make happy, sad, or angry. The blond is never violent though, and is just as quick to forgive and forget as he is to get angry. He’s one of the most loyal and dedicated people you’ll ever meet, with a huge heart and more than enough care to go around for friends, family, and strangers alike. He’s positive and upbeat, which is truly a special thing in a world like this.
Strengths:
Zell’s physical strength is almost unparalleled, and he’s quite the boxer. He’s also very genuinely nice, and has a powerful sense of morals.
Weaknesses:
He isn’t the fastest thinker in the world, which can make him appear stupid. He may not quite be that, but is he very quick to trust and pretty naïve. Which, to someone intending him harm, is just as well.
History:
Zell was born to an unwed teenage mother in the upper class, who immaturely and immediately deposited the boy in a lower class orphanage. He was soon adopted by the Dincht family, who made the minimum amount of money required to adopt a child. They loved him very much, though, and Zell didn't even mind that he had to work at a very young age before any of his other friends had jobs. His adoptive father worked out at the mines and was away most of the time, but when he returned everyone was on good terms. Despite all of them having to work and him being their only kid, Zell had a pretty Brady Bunch-like lifestyle until he turned 16.
At this age, Zell's adoptive father died at the mines. It was going to be even harder to make ends meet now, and so Zell offered to go and take his place working at the mines (it paid better). His mother insisted that he didn't have to do that, but Zell didn't want his mother to live an uncomfortable life and took the job anyway. At the mines, Zell was treated like the baby of the group. Nobody really took him seriously, though they all included him (most of the time) and played around with him, and taught him their favorite pastime- boxing. Zell was a natural, and by 17 he was able to beat any of the other miners there in a boxing match.
Zell visited his mother as often as he could, which wasn't really very often what with the demand of the job. But just recently, he got a message from his mother that she was getting remarried and that the man was well off enough that Zell could come home. Zell didn't know what to think abot this at first. On one hand, he was happy for his mother. But on the other, he didn't even know this new man and was almost scared to meet him. But Zell agreed and came directly home as soon as he could.
